Denae Cato Joins Concept AgriTek as Research Agronomist

Charleston, MO — Concept AgriTek welcomes Denae Cato to its team in the role of Research Agronomist. In her role, Denae will spearhead initiatives focusing on agricultural research and development in the Charleston area, overseeing plot management throughout the growing season, and contributing to harvest operations.

Denae brings a wealth of experience and passion for agriculture to her new position. With an undergraduate degree from Murray State University (2018) and a Master of Science in Agronomy from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2022), she possesses a strong academic foundation combined with practical know-how from her family’s farming operation in Advance, Missouri.

Throughout her career, Cato has been involved in various aspects of the agricultural industry, from seed production to sales. Notably, her graduate research on altering seeding populations yielded invaluable insights, emphasizing her commitment to exploring innovative solutions for optimizing crop yields and fueling her excitement for plot research.

“I didn’t envision myself solely working on the farm, but I always knew I wanted to pursue a career related to agriculture,” said Cato. “My time at Asgrow, where I had the opportunity to engage in research projects and witness the impact of small adjustments firsthand, ignited my passion for agronomy research, and I’m excited to continue those efforts to serve the farmers Concept AgriTek works with.”

Denae’s excitement extends beyond the work. She shares that her first experiences with the Charleston, manufacturing facility and meeting the team left a lasting impression.

“The first conversation I had with Bert, we talked for more than an hour. That conversation left me feeling like Concept AgriTek was a good fit for me and my values. After meeting more of leadership team and visiting the manufacturing facility in Charleston, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a member of this team where collaboration and support are fundamental values,” she shared.

Concept AgriTek Director of Agronomy, Bert Riggan concurs.

“Denae is a great addition to our agronomy research team. Like most of our team, Denae comes from a working farm, which is invaluable from a research perspective,” he said. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Denae join our growing agronomy team and look forward to what her role will mean for the expansion of our 100+ research plots.”
